    Default Farm implements

Ok... I just can't seem to get this through my head. I think we have all seen the signs, bumper stickers, etc. that say "Start seeing motorcycles". I get this as I was in a VERY serious motorcycle accident 5 years ago from which I will never recover from. They are considerably smaller than cars and can be hard to see.

Here is the confusing part. I am now seeing lots of "Start seeing farmers" signs. So I began to analyze the scenario. Here I am coming down the blacktop approaching a vehicle wide enough to use both lanes, much taller than my car, has attachments hanging off in various directions. Paint is bright green, red, orange, yellow. HOW DO I NOT SEE IT? I can not imagine anyone ever saying "Well officer I just could not see him". In conclusion I have to ask myself just what does "Start seeing farmers" signs actually imply?

I can say for fact that drivers are crazy and distracted and way to aggressive these days. My family has tractors although nothing as large as you describe but people don’t realize they don’t speed down the road. My grandfather has been rear ended before on the tractor and messed the vehicles up bad. Luckily nobody was hurt.

My version of that would have to do with the Amish horse drawn wagons. That also gets bad now and then. I don’t get to farming country anymore so I have no insight to share. I have been running down a backroad with my mind somewhere it shouldn’t have been and had to stand on the brakes to avoid a situation that was plain to see but distraction had taken over. It happens to all of us, more so nowadays with the electronics adding to the mix.

Thanks guys. I can understand what both of you are saying and totally agree. They misjudge speed or are distracted for a short time, etc. I have to believe that all who have caused accidents have SEEN them but just too ignorant to respond accordingly.
    Ok rant over
