People on keto have to be careful with that term, cheat day. The “Keto” diet isn’t really a diet, Ketosis is a metabolic state that your body shifts into when you eat a certain way. Most people think of cheating as an excuse to eat deserts, pizza and foods like that. You can’t do that and maintain a beneficial level of ketosis. When my weight loss plateaus I do increase my calories for a day but I still eat foods that are maintain the level of ketones in my blood. The medical field doesn’t know a whole lot about nutrition. There are several documentaries on Amazon Prime and Netflix that y’all about the detrimental effects of sugar/carbs. They’re worth a watch.
I had my annual physical in June. I had lost 45 pounds since a “sick visit” in February. After my February visit I started eating a “healthy” (as defined by what we’ve all been told was healthy) diet. Leans meats, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. From mid February until April 4th I had lost 4 pounds. As I said earlier, since April 4 I have lost 50 (now 51) pounds by eating Keto.
So, if you’re doing a keto diet, don’t cheat, just increase keto friendly calories one day every couple of weeks.
