Awesome job on everyone doing the diets and or meal plans. It’s not easy but results are definitely worth it. And don’t forget to have a cheat meal or day from time to time. Keeps the metabolism up as well as the moral!!

People on keto have to be careful with that term, cheat day. The “Keto” diet isn’t really a diet, Ketosis is a metabolic state that your body shifts into when you eat a certain way. Most people think of cheating as an excuse to eat deserts, pizza and foods like that. You can’t do that and maintain a beneficial level of ketosis. When my weight loss plateaus I do increase my calories for a day but I still eat foods that are maintain the level of ketones in my blood. The medical field doesn’t know a whole lot about nutrition. There are several documentaries on Amazon Prime and Netflix that y’all about the detrimental effects of sugar/carbs. They’re worth a watch.

I had my annual physical in June. I had lost 45 pounds since a “sick visit” in February. After my February visit I started eating a “healthy” (as defined by what we’ve all been told was healthy) diet. Leans meats, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. From mid February until April 4th I had lost 4 pounds. As I said earlier, since April 4 I have lost 50 (now 51) pounds by eating Keto.

So, if you’re doing a keto diet, don’t cheat, just increase keto friendly calories one day every couple of weeks.

If you want to watch a documentary that will really raise your ire, watch ""Fed Up". It was hosted by Katie Couric and is very revealing about money versus what's actually good for you. ,
It all about healthy eating and why we don't.

Yep, I watched it. It's sad that we've been lied to about food for the past 40 years. Thanks to big money and buying off the government. The "study" that showed that soft drinks aren't bad for us, that was paid for by the Cola folks did tick me off. That's the documentary where the guy said, "you can put sugar on your corn flakes or corn flakes on your sugar, and there's no difference in how your body perceives it." That's pretty bold and probably very true.

I forgot to add in all that rambling I did above that modern medicine doesn't know what they think they do. My doctor is a highly touted Internist. A great doctor from all accounts. He was glad that I'd lost weight and I told him I was anxious to see how much my triglycerides had dropped. He said, "you're eating a ton of fat doing keto, they'll be through the roof." I told him I didn't think they would and his response was, "well we'll see." In June of 2018 my triglyceride level was 287. End of June this year, they were 117. I'm looking forward to going back this winter for the "I told you so" moment. LOL There's lot's of stuff out there that talks about the fallacy that saturated fats are bad for us and just how bad carbs are for us.

I very much agree that most medical professionals know absolutely nothing about ketosis and/or diets as a general rule. It takes a lot of research and experimentation sometimes to find out what works for you. Regardless of the diet or plan chosen, they all require a lot of diligence and self control. A tip of the hat to everyone bettering themselves!!
