It used to be that such events as the Superbowl were as momentous and meaningful to Americans as the flag and a slice of mom's apple pie and were things we all looked forward to in fellowship and celebration. But I guess this spirit is no more according to the majority, who have responded to this thread with little more than sarcasm, cynicism and disdain. I guess even more shocking to me: I was always raised to believe that our Savior Jesus Christ made the only perfect sacrifice that would ever really matter to a sinful and selfish mankind, but it's not His sacrifice but some of our own that has somehow become more important.

I guess the majority would have the rest of us just accept that (the world) (we all) have digressed to such a place that we are now "numbed" and "hardened" by our own haughtiness, selfishness, unrepentance and unforgiveness to such a place that we no longer remember what America used to be and clearly not to encourage one to another to rally together for what awesome thing we believe America might be again. Isn't this much the same way as cancer cells invade and overtake and corrupt healthy cells in the human body?

Over my disappointment with the state of the union, the NFL and with the majority response to this thread: I would respectfully remind all that the Bible teaches us that we should walk in love and compassion for our neighbor and by faith and not by sight all of the days of our lives. May God have mercy on us all as we continually choose of our own volition to pass by on the other side.

Moderators, please close this thread as it has certainly outlived its usefulness. I apologize to everyone on the forum for my mistake that what I thought to be a fun and very simple question"Whose Your Pick to Win" might rekindle that patriotism of old; yet somehow morphed into something very political and very ugly---something far different than I intended it to be.
