    Hey Indigo Flats
I just ran across your post and spotted your handle, Indigo Flats, and that really hit home with me. First off I hope all goes well with your resent problem with the ticker.

I looked back at some of your past posts and saw some of your pictures too. I've been fishing Broadwater for over 55 years, I made 80 today, and was just down there camping last week for a few days. We usually stay close to Indigo Flats when we camp. I may have seen you in Broadwater some of the times that I was there. I may be making a trip later this week. It has been my favorite place to crappie fish for years. I saw the picture of the camp site and don't recall seeing it along the river before. It must be above 601. I use to use the 601 landing but after the flood I've been using Lowfalls landing and going back up the river. I notice the Coleman lantern and stove on the table and I've restore them and collected them for years. That is one of my other hobbies. I've lost count of the many lanterns and stoves that I have. I now use mostly the kerosene pressure lanterns made by Coleman , Petromax, and Aida. They give many more candle power than the gas ones. Reading your post it looks like you fish a lot for Cats. I saw a picture of your rigs that you use and I may have seen a few that were left on a branch with that big hook. I'm not a cat guy but do catch a few while crapping fishing.

I hope that you continue to improve with that ticker and if you see me fishing out of a gray Polakraft with a 40 4 stroke Yamaha, stop and say Hi.

First I fish for cats between #1 highway and 378 I never leave a hook hanging. I mainly fish 25 hooks and have a way to spot them as I go up or down river I replace them in the bucket as I retrieve them if I come up short of 25 I trace up and down my setting area until I retrieve all of them. I will not leave a hook hanging. I have fished in Broadwater creek since I was 4 years old I am now 67 I have been fishing for more than 60 years in the Santee River Swamp but mainly fish the Wateree river and camp on the river bank in a nice cabin that a friend lets us use. I have many memories in Broadwater with family members that have gone to there heavenly home. I have camped in the river swamp for 7 to 10 days many a time, the long stays have mainly been during duck season. Coleman camping equipment has never let me down. I will restart my catfishing in the spring of the year.

Y'all's posts remind me of how much I miss camping with my favorite fishing partner (the wife). We always camped in a tent, whether it was 10 degrees or 105 (no heater, no fan, but a nice Coleman stove and lantern). We started as newlyweds, continued with kids, then grand kids, or just by ourselves. In Montana, it was mostly at gorgeous, high-mountain lakes. In Oklahoma, mostly at Ft. Cobb, Eufaula, or Broken Bow. We quite often used float tubes when fishing for trout or crappie. For cats, it was bank fishing, jugs, or limb lines. We provided a lot of fun and table fare for ourselves, family, and friends. About three years ago , my partner said she is too old for camping (at only age 65). Her retiring probably has nothing to do with old knees, bears or skunks in camp, getting covered with spiders and ants while working limb lines, or the snake that dropped out of a tree and landed on her head one night. Surely do miss those days.
