    Default Duck Hunters

Any of you guys do any duck hunting? I have to admit, as much as I love crappie fishing my heart is in those ducks. Just gettin the itch to pull the trigger and wanted to talk some duck. All you die hard true to the core crappie fisherman, dont tear me a new one. I promise Im not the one setting up decoys in your honey hole, or peppering you with steel from the shore so have mercy on your posts.

QUACK QUACK I use't to but its been years it got kinda like my turkey hunting is now. where i hunt, you don't hunt them they hunt you we'd set up on the side of a slew just before daylight about 5 mins after they would be setting on your blind, walking around it swimming by the hunderds all around you, you'd have to shoo them away just so you wouldnt kill three of four in one shot. same with the turkeys set up at the edge of a field start yepping man you'll have floggin you in a matter of mins i've counted 40 to 50 in one droveon all sides of me had them walk up so close i thought they were going to peck me thinking my legs were roots of a tree it just get to where it's no sport in it kinda like shooting fish in a barrel

You know I have never had that problem. Never can get more than one turkey to answer at a time. Getting covered up would be a nice change.:D
Hope your lines stay wet and your livewells full.:D

I hunt in North Carolina, mid state close to South Carolina. Lake Tillery and Blewett Falls primarily. Its tough around here, more hunters than ducks and the ratio seems to grow more every year. I've been scouting more than fishing here lately. Its looking good so far but then again, it always does when nobody is shooting.

    Thumbs up My true love!

You guys found me out, duck hunting has to be my true love!:D I love to fish but duck hunting is where my heart is.

I hunt on public property at Sabine Waterfowl refuge but Hurricane Rita put a stop to that for me last year and it is closed again this year don't know if it will reopen next year or not. I think it will probably be a couple of more years before they can open it. They said there was a pile of debris 1 mile wide and 5 miles long!. No way to get through the debris.

I have hunted on this refuge since 1986 and have done, on average, better than the guys that are paying THOUSANDS on leases.

Can't wait until I can get back out there.:D

Shadow I am sorry to hear about your hunting place. That would be hard to deal with. My Dad did some work at the Citgo{?} down there. He hunted ducks there and said they were never ending.

There is nothing finer than a sunrise over the grand praire here in Arkansas during duck season. I love to go and hang out with my buddys and work my old dog, but you can shoot my limit for me. Just lost the dedire to hunt em like I used to. Unless I get an invite with a buddy or we do a duck hunt crappie fishing combo I am just going to go to the deer camp most of the time.

To me the work vs reward ratio on ducks is not in line with crappie fishing or deer/turkey/hog hunting
