    Default Storm Shelter

Anyone have an above ground storm shelter in their garage? Seriously considering due to numerous close calls here in Ooltewah. Any information and/or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Be very choosy. Take your time. A ‘safe room’ can be built that family can hide in should the alarm sound. But if a large tornado is passing over underground is only place to be. Some build shelters and never use them and they are left with an eye sore. So research well before making any choices.
Maybe they will bite this one……

Presently we have no real safe place. Hall closet. both bathrooms are located at exterior walls. Basement crawl space. I have been doing a lot of research. I appreciate your response and the sound advice, thank you.

Whatever you decide, make sure you register it with the local fire and/or police department. When the EF5 comes through rescuers can check to make sure that you are not stuck in the shelter with a two ton oak tree on your exit. It happened here in Kentucky a few years ago. The couple's son came to check on his folks and found the door blocked.
