Yep, it's too easy these days to do nothing and not be hungry.

Thanks everyone for all of the suggestions. I cant wait to come check out the area, while fishing of course. Reelfoot, and Watts Barr will be my first two spots to look at. For what it is worth, I will have done 28 years or so by the time I retire, and my wife just over 30. Wish I was young....my mind still thinks I am...my body says otherwise.
I live in Kentucky about 47 miles north of the border. One thing to check is Taxes. While Tennessee does not have an income tax it DOES have what they call a Hall Tax which is 6% on all investment interest and dividends. Kentucky does not tax many retirement incomes, but check to make sure if your particular income meets the criteria to be tax free if you decide to wander north of the TN/KY line. And Tennessee has some hellacious sales taxes. There is a 7% State Sales Tax and many cities add an additional Sales Tax to that. Before I retired I worked at a Lowe's HIW just over the line in Murray KY and TN builders would drive to us to avoid the 7 1/2% Sales Tax in TN (KY Sales Tax is 6%). Whatever you decide we will be happy to meet you. There is an annual Fall Shin-Dig here in Benton KY (coming up this Saturday) where lots of KY, TN and even some MS & PA folks all get together for a fish fry, seminars on Trolling, Electronics and other crappie related activities. Hope to see you when you get here.
Hall tax is being phased out. It is 4% now and will decrease 1% per year until 2020? Tn has no state income tax.
Hall tax usually gets us people who have saved and don't depend on the government to survive. Truly sucks.
I stays about 30 miles from Ky. I usta get groceries in KY and buy me beer there. Just call me a tax avoider or maybe a smart WalMart shopper.
In my post above I said the West Kentucky Shin-Dig was this upcoming weekend - whoooops - It is Saturday 11 November - see the Kentucky Forum for all the details.
