I know a lot of members will disagree with me on this one, BUT I run really skinny shallow water so I removed my thermostat and only put the housing part back in place. We don't get the really cold weather down in my neck of the woods so I have never had an issue with not having the thermostat. Been doing it this way for as long as I can remember.

A lot of the marsh fishermen here run it this way. We have more issues with the thermostat keeping the motor from running in shallow water, gets clogged up and doesn't let the water flow through to keep engine cool. I don't know anyone that runs the marsh like I do that actually runs with the thermostat in.

This one is stuck. Can’t reuse it cuz I damaged it. Thinking about using a drill.

Don't know if I would want to use a drill on it. Should be bearings underneath that seal

Best I can tell from the diagrams it is a press fit seal. Having the replacement in hand would better tell you how to remove it. I would believe the outer band holding the seal into the bore is metal reinforced.
