    Default They got me!!!

I went over to Toledo Bend on Friday with cdc member vbottom to fish with some friends. On the way I passed through the town of Robeline on hwy 6. Little did I know, Robeline is rated as one of the top speed traps in the state. Coming in from the east the speed limit is 55 then there is a sign that says 35 mph ahead then a couple hundred feet a 35 mph sign. Now I'm not saying I wasn't going over the speed limit when I hit the 35mph sign, I may have been. But to slow from 55 to 35 in that short of distance without braking hard would be difficult to do. I'm not looking for sympathy, just venting. From doing a little research it looks like it will cost me over 300.00 to pay the fine. Maybe that's why Robeline takes in over a half a million dollars a year in traffic fines. Not bad for a town of 170 people. Oh well, we did catch some nice crappie.

Thanks for the warning, I’ll make sure I remember next time I go through there.

Maybe Robeline should just set up a toll booth and charge everyone to drive through. Sorry this happened to you.

MANY small towns in Louisiana like that! Really is a shame! Keeps people from wanting to visit. I slow down for ALL the small towns! Sorry this happened to you. There are some small towns that will give you a ticket for as little as 2 mph over the speed limit!

Benton, Turkey Creek, and Pine Prairie are the traps I'm most familiar with, though I've been fortunate not to catch a ticket yet. Definitely have to 'mind your P's and Q's' in those smaller towns.

Sorry that happened to you all.
My goal is to never meet small town police anywhere!
55-35 is to fast a deceleration, in a short distance.

You can also add the town of Ball and Washington to that list. Ask me how I know!

Like I said, I'm not arguing I wasn't driving faster than 35 just that the way the signs were placed didn't give me a chance to obey the law. Come to find out, if I fight the ticket, the judge is also the town mayor.
