Having evacuated many times over the years, I've learned that the best time to hit the road is around 3 AM. By then most people are off the road from the previous day and nobody has started moving on the current day. I also have plotted routes out of the area via back roads rather than Interstate highways. You can make better time. Keep it safe "D", we're praying for all of y'all.

Thanks ole bud. We went and looked today. Although the water got high and flooded some in south Iowa, our subd. survived. It got up to a couple doors when it stopped. My house took no damage at all. My neighbor had some fence go down that he just put up. He already fixed it again. We cleaned the fridges out , packed a little more clothes and headed back to our camp at TB. I told Mae as we left, the electric will probably come on now. Well it did right after we got to the camp. I had turned off the main breaker, so we gonna rough it another night in our new 5th wheel. Thanks to all the hard workers and found out Entergy actually had shut most of the power down to prevent surging. They said that made it safer and less chance of another long shutdown. Thanks to God for sparing us an giving us the means to rebuild and move on from this dreadful year.

It's good news to hear that you and Mae are alright and that you suffered no more severe damage. Enjoy the camping trip now because you will have a bunch to do later. Praying all returns to normal.

Fence 2 x 4's delayed . They are at stines, but their truck broke. I will get them soon. Oh well, guess I'll take a break. Yay! I forgot to mention the family across the street had totally reshingled just before delta. The had 75% blow off. I have already helped clean up with another neighbor and we cut the grass for them. Mr. Ivory, who had the damage is recovering from a stroke. At least we moved in a place where we care for each other.
