Praise the Lord you survived it.
Extra consideration is surely in order for the future. You and Linda are in my thoughts and prayers.Please be careful in the heat and at all times.As has already been said tractors/farm equipment has taken many lives.Use good judgement always.

Have had heat stroke twice when I was young-passed out and hit the dirt without any control at all.

WOW! Glad to hear that you came out of that incident with just a skint arm, Mr. Gene. Our Lord Jesus was surely looking out for you! Thanks for reminding all of us that the heat is very dangerous.

A number of years ago we lost my father-in-law to heat stroke, after he cut 3 yards with a push mower in 105 degree weather. He was always a hard worker, but also hard headed.

PPG, I'm sorry to hear of the near tragedy, but glad it was just "near". Please take care of yourself out there. If the tractor has headlights, it may be time to switch to night cutting for summer months.

Glad you're OK after such a scare. What is most frightening is, from your description, you never saw this coming until it was too late.
It's hot here in SC too. I'm staying inside during the heat of the day.

Wow!! I'm so glad to hear that everything is generally okay in the end and that the Good Lord was looking over you.
I'm sure it thoroughly terrorized Ms. Linda to see you slumped over on a tractor that was heading for the highway and/or the swamp. I'm so thankful that the Lord sent a dutiful and highly qualified passer by that could/would intervene before Ms. Linda would have gotten hurt or worse trying to rescue her beloved husband... cause I guarantee you she would have found a way to stop that tractor and get to you no matter what it would have taken. I'm sure it was a very stressful and sudden episode for both of you.

I've heard it said: After surviving a traumatic event, (like this), many people have PTSD-like symptoms at first, such as being unable to stop thinking about what's happened, (as you say Ms Linda is). Sure, fear, anxiety, anger, depression, guilt — are all common and even typical reactions to trauma. Granted, (too), the majority of people exposed to trauma do not develop long-term post-traumatic stress disorder; but nevertheless, getting timely help and support may prevent normal stress reactions from getting worse and developing into PTSD. This may mean talking this experience through thoroughly and frequently as well as maybe turning to family and friends who will listen and offer their comfort and insights; try turning to church friends or others in your faith community; it may even mean seeking out a mental health professional for a brief course of therapy (just) to be on the safe side.

I'm not trying to play Dr. Phil or nothing like that... but I can assure you that from now on... Ms. Linda will have a deep seated (or ingrained) anxiety about seeing you exert yourself in hot weather and/or seeing you get on that tractor... at least until such a time as she can put everything back into the right perspective again, (which I'm sure will take some time).

I recommend that you follow up with the doctor about your heat exhaustion and I'm not so sure I wouldn't have Ms. Linda checked and/or treated for post traumatic stress disorder.

Again, I'm so glad to hear that this didn't have a much worse outcome.
