    Default Crawfish spawn/repro cycle


    Had never really considered their cycle... just went out and dropped nets or traps in anticipation to eat. Not a lot of literature on it either. At least not in a pdf format I will look at.
    Played with a pole and scoop net with my boys after work and this eve while waters in back yard.

    Guessing one of em will figure out the process bf I die.

    Thanks. My wife is a nurse and tells me to man up.
    And like anything in Louisiana, crawfish are an anomaly who dint follow rules underlined in crustaceans.

    It was my thinking from things I've picked up along the way, the crawfish burrow into the soil where they lay and hatch there eggs which cling to the mother like in the picture. Then in the spring with warming and flooding waters they emerge . At certain times of the year those who farm crawfish in pounds pump the water out to force the crawfish to borrow and not to migrate. Then at the right time they flood the fields allowing the crawfish to surface and start feeding and growing. Like I said my thoughts only.

    As good of an explanation as I be read... and about what I’ve gathered also. thx Mr Gene.
    Just kind wondering about water temps and such. “The right time” is my question mark.
    Even called an old Professor at school and he said “so unpredictable”.
