    Default 16ft. southern crappie rods

finally got a chance to use these things last saturday. since no one had used them when i was thinking about buying them, for the price i didn't figure i could go wrong. handled the tightlining ok. 1lbers. in cover not a problem. plenty of back bone. the kevlar/carbon seems to be ok weight wise as well, considering its a 16ft. stick. my only dislike is the tips. they are a little lighter action than i like. in rough water they tend to bounce a bit making bite detection a little tougher, but my hook sets seemed to improve over my other rods. you really can't fish much over a 1/2 ounce weight without causing a large bow in rod tip. big meaty handles and grips are another plus. still don't think wally's got anything to worry about, these run about $40 a piece new.

you will probobly like the 14s or 12s better. My favorite is wallys tightline special at BPS like u said stiffer tip can handle upto 3/4oz without as much action.

However, the southernCR blank is the best I have used so far as durability is concerned, haven't broken one yet!

Do be careful if you use the stanly rod holders offered on the site to mount your bases with the nut down or add some more weld. I mounted mine with the nut up and lost a whole tree in jordan.

I like the Wally Marshall 16' titelines, I fish a Capps and Coleman rig with 1-1/2oz of lead, two 1/2os worm weights and a 1/2oz egg in the middle. It pulls straight down even when I get up to .5 MPH.
    I don't fish because I want to, I fish because I HAVE to !

    Moma tried real hard.

Please go over that rig againt to make sure I understand it.

two 1/2 oz worm sinkers ? where are they placed?1/2 ounce egg in the center I understand

I use the capps and Coleman rig a lot when I get to fish ( not much recently), but I generally use it with minnows on #1 hooks and a 3/4 weight in the center..

    Thanks

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

    Default hey nat

Don't fish very much since grandkids became involved with travel sports. I am the chauffer. Also had some health issues.
I used to monitor the site but because I wasn't fishing, I sort of lost interest.
I have been to Rhodhiss several times this year and have had no problem catching a limit of fish. They are on the trees in the upper end and should be no problem for anyone right now.
I am going to unlimber my flyrod in a few minutes as there is no baseball tournament this weekend, soccer is over for the day and the bream are bedding.

How are you doing.? Is your work holding up? Do you ever get up this way anymore?

Hardly ever get that way since I'm back in law enforcement full time now.
