Hit the pond today and caught several and kept 4 with the biggest one coming at the end on a marabou jig, I figured I'd try it out since people say they work in colder water and got hammered twice. I dunked in some Gulp attractant to help em hold on a bit longer

Hit the usual pond today, started out with a 2" berkley power swimmer, I started another thread on how it wasn't good, but I realized I had a loop knot tied, with paddletails you want a direct tie for better action, so after direct tying I realized it's a deadly bait. Caught one on my second cast with it, but with the water getting colder may not be the best option. So I tried the atomic tube casting without a float for the first time, and I lost count of how many crappie's I caught just slowly swimming the tube. Had many distinct thumps, one of the addictive aspects of crappie fishing. I will definitely be slangin some tubes from now on. As for durability, the same tube is still good after numerous catches. The highlight of the day though was when I was swimming the power swimmer along the top of the water and a bluegill was following it, and out of nowhere a 9+ lb bass inhales the gill. I was nervously shaking in anticipation of getting a live gill tied on my zebco slingshot, lol, caught one gipp that was a little big but couldnt get another bite from a gill. Next time Ill take bacon

Oh yes, my hook ups are actually much better with jigs than live minnows under a float, go figure. I was missing at least 1 out of 5 fish using eagle claw #4 aberdeens, tried some Gamakatsu #8 circles and still the same. With the jig's I'd say I've caught at least 100 black crappies out of this pond and lost maybe 5 that I saw come off, not counting missed strikes

Nice looking fish. By the way that last one swallowed it, I'd say he had some friends down there with him and there was a bit of competition going on as to who was going to get it. Congrats.

Most of the fish I caught were like clones, around 8 inches. I believe this pond is infested with black crappie's and needs a good cleaning, filleting and eating, haha
