    Default Elizabeth City NC

Hay everyone. Just joined. Moved to the area back in 2000 for the fishing, bream, stripers , little shallow for big cats but from Lake Waccamaw NC area use to shock in Cape Fear and the black rivers. Friend got me hooked on Crappie about a month ago. Been killing it but not catching to much.
Setting up the boat now with a new electronics' but wondering if there is anyone in the area that would enjoy fishing some time. Retired for now but i have a lot to learn. Don't mind helping out and buying dinner. Know the folks at River City Bait and tackle so getting some coaching from them.
Hope everyone has a great holiday season and be safe out there.

All of those rivers are loaded with crappie. Try some of the creeks off the river and fish about 12-16" right now. I don't fish up that way much, but that should get you in the ballpark.

Hope find a few takers on the fishing trips. Crappie fishing is not the toughest to learn but harder than catfishing. You'll get more knowledge from going with someone for sure. There are some great fishermen in NC, so I know it won't be long and you'll be one too! Merry Christmas to you also!

Welcome to the forum. I an east of the big water lakes and deep water. It is a long drive to where you are but I know you will find plenty of crappie to bend your pole. I fish tanic water all year and love crappie fishing. I am catching lots of crappie right now in 12 to 14 ft water. I am finding crappie holding tight to the bottom until the sun gets high. A change of 1/2 degree surface temp can cause them to move off the bottom. If you find a deep hole, try it two turns off bottom. Sometimes it is hard to see the crappie if they are on the bottom. I am retired and this is my favorite time of the year to fish. Good luck.

Welcome to the Forum. The crappie fishing has been off a bit this year just east of you off of the north river but still trying. You can't catch them if you don't get a hook wet.

Been finding them but was using minnows. You know how low the water is finally figured out all the bait fish were in the middle where the fish were the ones we caught were so fat they were full. Last time I went they tore the jig up same deal didn't want the minnow. Wide open finishing up the boat for crappie fishing.
After next Sunday should be ready to hit it again hard.
Coastal Carolina enjoying the peaceful easy way of life.
