I know there are not a lot of boat docks like there is on Lake Gaston and I know it’s a lot of grass. Just trying to get some general information and maybe some area to target this time of year. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

On the upper end of the lake I like the area right below Gaston dam and the area between where the old railroad used to cross the lake at Thelma. There are some deep submerged trees along the steep drop banks in the Thelma area. You need side scan to see them. On the lower end there are fish but you'll need to idle around to find them. The mouth of Haw creek has a couple spots but to be honest I keep my eyes glued to down imaging as I'm idling around and that's how I find most of my spots. My favorite target will be underwater rock piles and next would be submerged wood. On Gaston I can fish all day and never fish a dock. There definitely some good docks but I'd rather sit back and cast to underwater structure than fish docks. Maybe it's cause I'm a little challenged at cast under docks but I really don't need to fish the docks.
