    Default Black nose crappie

Caught my first ever black nose crappie today. We were pulling crankbaits on high rock. Fishing was slow but still a great day. And of course I put the fish back so maybe someone else will catch this same fish and have it be their first ever black nose crappie. Name: 20210917_090200.jpg

Thanks for posting your prize! Maybe I'll get one bigger than 5 inches! We had several caught here on Wylie in the past few years. Truly is a beautiful crappie. Thanks for the release, perhaps a kid will catch it!

I caught one about 7 inches long on high rock last fall in Abbott’s creek. I put it back. Maybe that’s it???
If so, you’re welcome. If not, oh we’ll it’s cool to think about paying it forward by releasing some.

They are pretty cool. I caught one on back to back trips @ Badin this spring. Caught another last year in the same spot, but those 3 are the only ones in the past 15 years of crappie fishing. Maybe they are getting more common?

Glad to read about others putting them back. I always put back any crappie that's over 15" so putting back a special fish like this was an easy no brainer for me. Good luck on the water guys.

I've caught two on Badin over the past couple of years. I've heard people call them different names. Both were small fish and were returned to the lake. Both were caught in the same area of the lake.
I only fish the two best days of the year, when its raining and when its not!
