The Concord Police Foundation and First Responders 1st are hosting a crappie and bass fishing tournament on September 18, 2021. The tournament is on Badin Lake. The crappie tournament will be open trailer event (you can use any ramp on Badin Lake) with the weigh-in being held at Alcoa Landing in the Town of Badin. Tournament times are from 7am - 2pm. Must be in the weigh-in line by 3pm. 7 fish limit, 12 rods maximum. Two fisherman to a boat (children under 12 are exempt from this limitation). The tournament is a $100 entry fee with a $2,000 guaranteed first place cash prize to the crappie tournament winner. $10 big fish sidepot. Scales will be open early so if you need to weigh-in you can, however, teams can only weigh one time. Registration and livewell checks will begin at 4:45 am at Food Lion Plaza in Richfield. You must check-in the morning of the tournament to have your livewell checked and receive your weigh-in ball. Without the weigh-in ball - you will be disqualified.

We will have a emcee at the weigh-in, doing some quick interviews with fisherman along the way. We have some Police Officers and Firefighters who are proving a hamburger/hotdog lunch at the weigh-in. Awesome raffle prizes (high end rod/reel combos, Yetti coolers, handguns, and a Tracker 400cc side by side). Raffle tickets will be sold on-site (except for the side by side which are being sold in advance $100 per ticket, only 100 being sold).

This tournament is to honor one of our own, Officer Jason Shuping, who was killed in the line of duty on December 16, 2020 by gunfire while responded to a possible car jacking incident. His wife and some family members will be at the weigh-in to share his passion for fishing.

It is my hope that everyone can make some time to fish this event. Of course we are fishing for some decent money, but more importantly it is a fund raiser for the Concord Police Foundations and First Responders 1st - both of which exist to provide support to police officers during their most critical times whether on-duty or off-duty.

Fish the Carolinas (Nate Quan) and Yadkin River Crappie Trail (Newell Montgomery, Shane Walser, & Rod Lundy) are providing scales and white boards to help with the weigh-in. It takes a community to put something like this on - and we are grateful for the friendships and support along the way! Not one penny is being kept by any organization. 100% of the proceeds (aside from prize monies) is going to both of these 501(c)3 non-profit organizationsName: Crappie.jpg
