Raleigh Area Boat Mechanic
All,
I have been living in Raleigh area now for a year and been driving about 2 hours to drop boat off to only mechanic I’ve ever trust Steve Powell in Salisbury or China Grove NC area. Have never had nothing less than first class service from prop to trailer and greasing the bearings for me. Needless to say he is finally retiring and I wanted to be proactive to see if anyone has I would say a good local guy or place they trust. These days the Steve Powell’s do no exist in my opinion anymore so I’m just trying to find someone even close to the same service and trust I can use in the near future. I am currently running a 1996 461VS with a 150 Merc EFI on the back. Any input is much appreciated or I am thinking about taking it all the way to Lexington, NC to let D&E work on it since I’ve heard good reports from two friends.

My neighbor has been a mechanic for 30 plus years.
After my boat was sitting for 5 years he got me going.
He cleaned the carburetor and replaced the rubber pins.
Drained the oil and gas.
Made sure the connections for the battery were clean.
He is honest and a good neighbor.
