Smile Just got into Fishing. (From Greensboro, NC)

    Hey there everyone,

Started fishing 3 months ago, got introduced to bass and crappie. I live in the suburbs and kinda have a general idea of where to go to catch crappie. I wanna get good at it because I would like to eat them! I don't have a boat or the friendship of people who have these cools boats to go out into spots.... So I'm a pier/bank fisherman like many here. I wanna ask because I've done so much reading, videos and research trying to further my chances at getting my first crappie. Yes... I haven't got a crappie yet or a bass but Catfish off of a cane pole.

At the moment I started with:

    • Shakespeare Micro Series Spinning Fishing Ultralight 7' 2 pc Rod with PFlueger Monarch 20sp 5:4:1 reel on 6lb Mono
    • B'n'M Pole Company Buck's 10' Graphite Jig Fishing Pole 2 pc Rod with Okuma Aria-30a 5:0:1 reel on 8lb Mono Vicious Hi Vis

    Many Bobby Garland 2" bait
    Berkley GULP Minnows
    Berkley Bites

I'm all ears for adjustments, good tackle to look for, jig weights for shallow 3-4 ft? and deep 6-9 ft?, colors to go for, changes to the test line, weight, and when to use these rods!
If you have any recommendation for places to go thats good for bank and on foot fishing spots I would love to visit them and get my first crappie!

    Thank you!

Welcome to the board. Hope you find answers to your questions and start catching the fire out of them.
I fish Lake Wylie mostly and from a boat so I'm no help for bank fishing from this area. That is I don't know many bank access areas down this way that are safe and good.
I'm sure someone will chime in for you.

It’s a good lake to fish they have 2 fishing piers one on the Guilford end off of hwy 61 and the other one is on Huffman mill road that’s where you can put big boats in at. Shoot me a pm and I’ll be glad to take you out.

Check out the 3 Greensboro city water reservoirs. They offer pier fishing and boat rentals. Oak Hollow reservoir in High Point would be another, as well as Lake Thomalex in Davidson county. If I remember correctly, Thomalex has 3 piers for fishing. Most water reservoirs in the area do not allow bank fishing.
