    Default Waccamaw River info anyone?

Going to be in the Ocean Isle/Sunset Beach/Shallotte area in late June for a week. I'm planning on taking my little Gheenoe and trying the creeks off ICW for trout, redfish, flounder or whatever will bite.

However, also very interested in the NC portion of the Waccamaw River. There's a ramp on Hwy 904 (I believe it is)

Wondering if anyone has fished that area? Bass? Bream? Catfish? Crappie?

I've fished it a number of times in the past. It is absolutely loaded with big bream and ther's some decent crappie fishing in there as well. Water is very low right now, from the reports I've heard. The ramp you're talking about is at Pireway I assume. Keep your eye out for the snakes and gators, there's plenty of both of them in there.

Yes Pireway. This was what I was hoping to hear. Well except for the snakes. I can live with the gators as long as they can live with me. Crickets and worms are always good for Bream. Any advice on artificial? Beetle spins, small jig & bobber, Roostertail spinners?
Many thanks for the info Jack!

The bream fishing has been outstanding in a majority of the ENC Rivers to this point. I'm guessing you could catch them on a beetlespin. You can't go wrong with a cricket though, when you're bream fishing.

That's encouraging! Don't mind fishing with crickets at all, just need to find a bait shop somewhere around. Thank you for all the info.

The pet stores in Shallotte and I assume the ones in North Myrtle stock crickets. Brim and crappie are being caught on crickets, beetle spins and roadrunners are always good as well. GPS 9201 Rivergate Rd NW, Ash NC that will get you to the entrance to the community but stay on 904 another 50 yards and the ramp will be on the left.
