Thread: My first observation of Live Scope...what are your thoughts?

its a tool that can make an ok fisherman great, but i hope i never become so dependant on a piece of electronics that i forget how to fish without it, there is no one way that is the best all the time

I like the idea of having one, but it’s an awful lot of money for me. At some point they will make an all in one unit and livescope will just be a feature in it. My Simrad is only a couple years old, I’ll upgrade eventually.

Amen to that. But I can tell you it's even worse if you plant your own field!

Some of you know Brad (alamancecreek) on here. He has one and has been sending me videos from his past trips. It's crazy to watch someone who knows how to use it. He says that it will change crappie fishing tournaments from here on out. No longer will you have to have 16 rods. Just run from one spot to the next, look for a big crappie (you can actually tell the difference) catch him and then run on to the next spot. Sounds like bass fishing to me.

He has definitely been wearing them out. You and me both know where he’s fishin there is some nice ones in that lake and he’s proving it.

Me and GeneC both have had Livescope now for almost 2 years. It has made us better crappie fishermen for sure. It's not all about the catching and we both release almost all the fish we catch. Single pole fishing with Livescope is more like hunting than fishing at times. It's just you and the fish. Just because you can see them doesn't mean you can catch them. And watching how they react to different things is amazing. We now mainly try targeting the larger fish, they are not easy to catch but that's part of the challenge. I love fishing. I loved fishing way before Livescope but love it even more now with it. It may not be for everybody and that's ok as well. I just hope that those that crappie fish with or without Livescope realise that you don't have to keep a limit of fish every time you go!

Anybody know if anyone uses it to troll for kings or Spanish in the salt?

I saw a YouTube from Australia and they use the LiveScope to keep their bait trolling at the right depths. Should work for Spanish and Kings.
