Default Christmas crappie bash. Jordan lake 12/26/20. Lots of pictures.

Christmas crappie bash in the books.

31 boats braved the cold today. Free entry
    $500.00 first place

    1st. Kevin Stacy/ Cal Debiak 10.67 bf 1.75 lbs
    2nd. Kevin Blevins/Ron Lundy 10.47 bf 1.94lbs
    3rd. Tom Cecil/ Rick Cecil 8.67 bf 1.86lbs
    4th. Montgomery/Walser 8.64 bf 2.18 lbs
    5th. Sinclair/Sinclair 7.09 1.76bf

    Big fish 2.58lbs
    Scott Allen/Chuck/Matt

Even though it was cold and cold and more cold 31 boats came out to the “Free Entry” Christmas Crappie bash. It was great to see all my old friends and some new faces as well. It was great to see 4-5 teams that had never fished a crappie tournament. The team of Kevin Stacy won the bragging rights plaques and 500.00 to go with them. Scott Allen’s team brought a big ol slab of 2.58lbs to take the Faircloth chimney sweeps prize money of 260.00

All this could not have been possible without the generosity of the sponsors we had. A huge thanks to all those that contributed. Hope everyone has a blessed new year.

Newly and Shane--thanks for putting on a great tournament. It was tough fishing with the water being up and temp's down, but some good fish were caught. Looking forward to some great tournaments the next few months. We went to a different spot with about 30 minutes of fishing time left. Caught a 1.86 and a 1.46, but ran out of time. Too bad we didn't hit that spot first thing, but that's fishing. Enjoyed the day.

Looks like an awesome time was had by all. I wished I could have been there, but I had holiday conflicts that I just could not wiggle out of.
Thanks to Newly and Shane for having such a good idea and ramrodding it into becoming a reality and thanks to the sponsors too.
Congrats to all who placed even in tough conditions and thanks to all who participated.

True--we had freezing lines as well. I think the Humminbird had the water at 48. The line freezing to the rod tips did make things interesting!!

Never fished a tournament. Do you need a live well to keep the fish alive?

Yes sir they gotta be alive to count, it’s purdy easy to make one from a cooler or even a storage container, in my teens I fished out of a 12’ jon boat with a homemade livewell, it worked real well, get ya a bilge pump to circulate/oxygenate the water inside, Add an on/off switch or even a timer switch if ya wanna get fancy, make the inside hose long enough so it can double as a way to add or get rid of lake water, I add a little bait saver in mine aswell, in cold weather you’ll have no problem, in hot weather ya gotta keep the water cool, ice is your friend there, and that’s where an old cooler is better than a storage container, I bet there are some YouTube videos on the project

In my younger bass days it was very rewarding to pull some hogs outta my homemade livewell, even more so to beat some guys that had boats that cost more than my home, it didn’t happen very often but it did enough to get me hooked on it, I have since upgraded slightly
