    Default Quality Crappie

I fished Jordan Friday. The bite was slow but the weather made it a very pleasant day. I fish catch and release most of the time but I had not had a meal of fresh crappie in a very long time. I kept 3 for dinner. I have to say that they were the best I have ever had. I cooked them just as fresh as they were dressed. No soaking or preping in any way. These were good fish. I was impressed at the thickness of the fish. Jordan is yielding some nice size fish and good quality fish.

I had a similar experience, only it was Thursday and on Falls lake. Beautiful day, glass smooth lake, which was nice as it’s been pretty windy the last few times I was out. I kept 3 out of about 30 I caught, mainly because I wanted fish for dinner. I think when the water gets down in the 50s the meat gets more firm and cleaner. The ones I kept were nice fish too, biggest was a little over 14” and they all had thick shoulders. Been getting a lot of small fish and perch this year, but this week they were better fish. Got a giant cat and a largemouth that was around 5# great day overall
