Just asking for a friend how many people would be interested in having a non livescope non 360 crappie tournament, you know standard di/si graphs, maybe a 3 or 4 fish limit, size limit of lake. $40 entry 80% payback. Tell you the name of the lake the Friday at lunch before tournament, drawn from hat. You know for the average weekend warriors like myself.

The only thing I worry about is getting a blanket weigh in permit, because I will not choose lake till the day before, I will have to call nc wildlife to see if they will do that.

I’m interested as long as I’m in town. I have a LiveScope but could remove the transducer or something.

i would like to see the payback greater than 80%, also id keep it to atleast 5 fish, every crappie tournamentt i know of is 7, the less fish you have, the more emphasis it puts on that one big kicker
the future of crappie fishing is artificial only, might be something to consider aswell, also what kinda rod limit are you thinking of having?
i have a livescope, ain't pulling the ducer but i will certainly just unhook the head unit and leave it in the truck, though i can't say as i have ever won a tournament due to my livescope, i personally think its just an excuse people who don't have one use, its not dynamite, you might can see something you think might be a crappie but that don't mean its gonna bite
on the other hand though there are folks who would really struggle without a livescope, its just another tool
i do like the idea of no prefishing just go have at it blind, you could make it a big deal the evening before like drawing a name out of a hat, i know of a bass club that does that, guys that only get the weekends off really like it
you only need a permit if you have over X amount of boats, i think its over 10 i cannot remember, better call to be sure, and you can always avoid a fee by having the wieghin elsewhere, lots of bait and tackleshops would llike to have a bunch of boats in the parking lot, somebody is gonna wonder in and buy something if nothing but a drink and a pack of nabs, you might even get them to sponsor the tournament

Ok the 3 fish limit came from a tournament that Chris Miller put on at high Rock a few weeks ago I absolutely loved it and seemed like most of the people that fished it did too, something different. As a artificial only not for me and probably not for a lot others either, and as far as livescope as an excuse I would say it is an advantage and people who cannot afford it should not have to be destroyed at every tournament because of it, the last 3 tournaments at high rock have been dominated by livescope, the guys that have won put in the time and are great at using it, it is proven that when you pull up to a brush pile with livescope and you don’t see the quality of fish you need you leave it, with conventional sonar you have to waste time fishing through the little fish to see if any big ones are there.
