    Default Engine Repair

I have to have my Stator replaced on a 98 Evinrude 60hp, I have the replacement part. A fellow fisherman is going to put it on for me and have no idea how much I should give him to replace it, he said whatever I wanted to give him if fine, he is also the one that tested everything electrical for me. I have no idea what a marina would charge me, any sugestions? Thanks

Most shops get at least $95/ hr.

If the repairman is a friend, a case of beer. If its just an acquaintance, better pay more accordingly!

I had to replace the stator several times on my 93 Evinrude 150 and it usually took about an hour. It is not a difficult job after you diagnose that it is the problem. Takes a few special tools too. So like CaptB said.

I'd maybe throw a nice little (not too expensive) ultralight rod or reel in with that case of beer if he's a pan fisher that is.

That's usually what I charge for my welding jobs I'm sure that's a lot cheaper than some repair jobs regardless of what you need done

Yes it did, I gave him $100 he diagnosed the problem, found the part for me to order and came back and installed it and I never met the guy before, he was a fellow fisherman on Tillery.
