If your bound by money restrictions I’d get a terrova with ipilot, but not for the spot lock, it’s takes a pretty good wind or steady current to make it worthwhile, if money is no concern I’d look at garmin truly the creme de la creme of t motors

Some of it depends on how you fish. But if your just looking for spot lock Terrova is best choice for the money. The new spot lock is very precise on positioning compared to the older spot lock.

I would second (or third) the Terrova. I had the older version and was very disappointed in the spot lock function, but when I fished with my buddy on his boat with the newer version I went home and sold mine and bought a new one. I absolutely love it!!

I have a terrova ipilot, it has spotlock. I absolutely would get the same unit again. I don’t know how I ever managed without it. Longlining I just set it and forget it, speed and direction. I can easily manage 10 rods fishing by myself.

When I am tightlining, or jigging, I move around the structure I want to fish and spotlock when I want to hold. I’ve used spotlock fishing over reefs offshore as well, in the wind it works hard, but keeps us over the spot.

If I had to do it again, I’d get the 112# 36v. Only because I can only push my boat about 2.6-2-8mph at full power and the batteries don’t last all day. Striper trolling I’ve been trying to get 3-3.3mph and have to use the big motor, which is fine, but I miss the autopilot. My boat is 20’ deep v center console, so I assume the 80# 24v would be fine on smaller boats.

I was in the market myself and asked for some advice. I have a Bass Tracker 175 Pro Team, so similar in size. Your question reminded me that I needed to follow up on my thread to let folks know how it turned out. Short answer: Ultrex 52"/24V/80lb with MDI and iPilot Link. I already had a 7" Humminbird MDI unit at the bow, but also purchased a 10" Humminbird MSI to put at the seat and networked all 3 together. Very happy with the results so far. Here is the link to my thread for more details:

Go to the end of that and you'll see my follow up, with a couple of pics. If you have any specific questions, shoot me a DM and I'll try to help however I can.

    Good luck,
    olJD
