Default Best Coppernose Bluegill Day Ever

Actually, best bluegill day of any kind for Charles and myself. I love crappie fishing, but #1 for Charles has always been bluegill or shellcrackers. We were in the New Bern area today fishing and put 56 of the Copperenose bluegill in the cooler. This was the single best day of fishing Charles has ever had. I was glad I got to share the day with him. It truly was a dream come true.

Ounce for ounce, those Coppernose must rank at the top for a bulldog of a fighter. We have ultralights, but left them at home. We used our light rods, but the ultra's are not strong enough for these fish. Here is a picture of Charles with one of the stud's we caught along with a shellcracker.

Last year in the New Bern area, we found some good shellcrackers as you can see in this picture, but we did not get the quantity that we did today with the Coppernose.

Any idea what kind of beds these are? Fairly large and very neat. No one was at home at either place.

This is an interesting screenshot. The square boxes are actually crab pots. Never seen so many down there today.

Outstanding trip no doubt. Who doesn't love to get into a gill feeding frenzy every now and then.
Very nice work guys and thanks for the pics and for sharing your most memorable fishing trip.

Cleaned the fish this morning. Did catch one crappie on crickets among the bream. We also caught a bass and a nice yellow perch as well.
