    Default Falls info???

I am spending a lot of time with my mother these days. I normally fish Jordan and Harris but Falls will be closer. I'm sure I won't like the traffic but how is the crappie fishing and fish size. Are there many channel cats or have the flatheads taken over? It looks like I could get out of the wind if it were not too bad.

I guess nobody wants to talk about Falls Lake. Oh well, thanks anyway.

I’ve never fished it. Any fish are good fish. I’m not a catfisherman. Are channel cats preferred to flatheads, blues, etc?

I like channel or blue to eat. I think that pound for pound the flathead fight harder. Flathead and blues get much bigger than channel. Flathead have a reputation for eating everything except themselves.

We fished it pretty hard February and early March. Last time I went it was as crowded as the 4th of July. I haven’t been back in a few weeks. If I was to go after crappie, I’d minnow/bobber fish over blowdowns, I’m sure there’s a few still biting. Can’t help with the catfish, I never caught one on purpose.

I'm in the same boat you are with taking care of my mom. Fish Falls and Beaverdam a lot since it's close. I kayaked Beaverdam last two weekends and caught mainly crappie and white perch. Couple of nice slabs but mostly small. Few small channels mixed in. using minnows and jigs. BGBS in pearl was the jig I caught most on.

I fished Falls Friday & Saturday. Wind was BAD Friday and made it hard to control the boat. Downright dangerous on the main lake. Did manage to get one at 1.5 pounds and a few smaller ones. Saturday was calmer but fishing was still slow. Caught about 20 on minnows but most were small. Only 2-3 keepers in the bunch. Put in at Ledge Rock. Pleasure boaters were out in force, especially around 3 or so. WRC officer was at the ramp when I got back. Wasn't doing much. Sitting in the truck with binocs watching people coming back in. Guess he was watching for wake zone violations.

Anyone having any luck at Falls? Might be wasting my time going out with this cold front coming through but wanted to get the boat out for awhile.

Didn’t make it. Family came into town and had to hang out.
