Default All Jordan Ramp Close thanks to crazy boaters

    IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Over the past 2 weekends the areas of Jordan Lake managed by NC State Parks have experienced an extremely high number of visitors. Park staff have spent hours managing traffic and conversing with many visitors. In order to reduce the risk of staff contracting COVID-19, to reduce the risk of spread through the visitor population, and to comply with the Governor's executive order with regards to social distancing; the final remaining, open areas (Robeson Creek Canoe Access and boat ramp, Seaforth boat ramp, Ebenezer Church 24 hr. boat ramp, and New Hope Overlook boat ramp and trail) will be closing until further notice starting at sunset tonight - March 31, 2020.

Poe's Ridge Boat Ramp will also close at sunset tonight.

As of this morning that ramp is closed. Only one ramp at Jordan remains open

I saw numerous boats with 8-10 people on them, rafted up next to other boats. It wasnt the fishermen who ruined this, it was the recreational crowd who refused to take the group warning seriously

I tried to go to Jordan on Saturday but it was an absolute zoo, park ranger turned me around said there was no more room at the ramp and it was a three ring circus down there. Went to Harris, it was the same story. So I do see their point. HOWEVER, they could be a little smarter about things. Unless it's 80+ degrees and sunny the only people showing up will be fishing boats so the crowds won't get big. Also, during the middle of the week there won't be problems, just the weekend.

And now Everyone will be funneled to Farrington. Kinda defeats the purpose of separation.

It is the exact kind of reverse ingenuity that happens when the talking heads in our gewberment neglect problems ad nauseum for so long that they can only react to them instead of proactively preventing and/or managing them along the way. It's the sort of thing that creates the illusion of oversight but, without ever once effectively addressing any single one of the essential elements of creative problem avoidance or problem solving. Yes, REDBOAT: What happens is this type of reactive thinking actually works to exacerbate (increase and complicate) the real problems themselves. (Ie. Create more congestion and frustration). I don't know how our government officials (with all of their political nonsense and continual stalemates) could be any less productive in this regard.

Doesn't it make you feel all "warm and fuzzy" inside to know you are at the mercy of such a gang of (politicians) non-effective decision makers.
