Default Minnows in Holly Springs / Fuquay / Harris location

So when the Tacklebox closed I started driving to Buckhorn General store for minnows, but now they stopped selling minnows. Anyone know a location for minnows close to the Shearon Harris Holleman boat ramp which is where I usually put in?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Probably will end up setting up a bait tank in the garage so I can just store them and not have to fetch them every time I want to go fishing :P

    Thats what I did.
The places that sell them are out of the way for me, so I keep around 12 dozen in a barrel in the garage.
In the summer the water gets too warm and they all die, so I shut it down until it cools off. I’ve had it back up and running for about a month now.

I have often wanted to setup my own minnow tank and think I have a system to do it. Problem is, where can buy bulk minnows (1 or 2 pounds) at a reasonable price? Any ideas? I have asked the stores I buy them at and the employees that work there are always clueless about it.

I’ve had similar results with asking the stores about their purchasing. One store owner told me his vendor won’t sell to me.

I looked into the mail order place and the system sounds great, Your Minnows are in a plastic bag that’s blasted with pure oxygen, boxed up and overnight shipped. All reports said the Minnows were in fantastic shape and super lively right out of the bag. But, the cost was more per dozen than I pay at the bait shop.

I buy 12 dozen at a time, and just take trips to the shop more often. My boy likes to go along with me, because we usually get an ice cream as well. Sometimes the store attendant will be lazy about the count and I’ll get a heavy count, one time I got close to 200.

If you are in the Raleigh area, you can buy fathead minnows by the pound. I've bought some at Foster Lake Pond Management in Garner, but they want a 3 pound minimum. Triangle Pond Management out towards Wake Forest has fatheads for $14 per pound.
