    Default Crappie at Jordan

Dumb question - do the crappie at Jordan tend to migrate towards the dam or up lake in the winter?

NC Crappie, I can't answer that.
I know back in the late '90's. We would fish under and around Ebenezer bridge at night with star-fire lights submerged about 10 ft. Water under bridge was 20 to 30 ft. deep fish were always about 14-16 ft. deep. We would troll in under bridge towards cove side ( not big water side of bridge) we could always fill coolers with 11-13" fish at that same depth as under bridge, fish would be in that 14-16 ft. depth , hugging the bank fall off's in to deeper waters. So as far as if they move to the open water I don't know. IMO, I think they hold on structure in that goldilocks zone of PH and TEMP. near deep water in case of drastic temp. changes and PH changes. Under the bridge they're just moving thru, I would think that bait fish are moving out of open water as wind blows their bait in big coves. But I don't know

Stopped at 64 bridge last Monday was so windy , had to go, didn't want to burn batteries up,2 other boats roughin it out. We moved towards crosswinds marina. Bank across from marina long point, about 150-200 yards from bank it's 6 ft.deep then falls to
9' a little ledge then 18'. If u going there to fish I'll give u exactly a good spot

I may end up fishing at 64 so if you PM the spot it would be great. I am trying to find me several good spots.

Follow the bait--and the shad will go deep during the cold weather, which means anywhere from the 64 bridge to the dam. This picture was taken on Harris, but I have lots of screenshots on Jordan like this, just not on this computer. This is a huge school of threadfin shad. In the Spring they will scatter out all over the lake, but in Winter, they congregate in the deep water. Always remember to follow the bait.

Temperature moves them from deep to shallow and back. Normally, colder the water, the deeper the fish
