This is just my opinion as I have only been once and that was last week. Caught a few good crappie and had a lot of fun but I think the water temp needs to drop a few degrees more and they will really kick in. Get there at daylight and you should have a couple of good hours.

the surface temp will swing as the cold fronts continue to move through but the deeper water will drop steady for the next few weeks due to the shorter days and less sunlight. Where you find them today will not be where they are tomorrow. In Jordan you have to follow the shad.

Thank you Sea Dancer for your help. I'm going to start fishing in the Farrington area. Do you know what the best depth to start fishing at this time of year would be.

I am planning to go there Friday. Normally this time of year I would fish the "s' curve area and the Haw river area but I have caught some nice fish at Farrington Point area this summer and in September. I will let you know by PM how I do.

    Shaqattack,
I crappie fished Jordan the last 4 Mondays. I'm going to tell you where to catch the crappie, I'm going again this Monday. Don't know what size boat u have?
If u put in at Poe's Ridge landing, stop at Jordan dam mini-mart and get some small minnows at least 3 dozen, I get for me 4 dozen. When u leave ramp go about 1/2 MILE till u see Island on left with eagle's nest,(first island on left) just past that island there is a cove, right side looks like green grass with lots of downed trees , on the left standing trees. Stop at mouth of cove , get minnows ready. I tight-line , with gold hooks and split shot weight about 18 inches up from hook. Stay to left hand side of cove, about 15-20 feet from bank.
Start fishing the crappie have run shad in that cove and I mean thousands. They'll be 2 leaning trees on left bank .u will see a downed tree at back of cove with white marker on stump(wildlife tree drop) crappie are in 8 ft. of water. I just let line out using a 6'6 rod about 9 ' click bail and drop. The fish are in 13 ft. all the way into 9ft.
I've caught around 30-40 last three weeks. Keeping my limit of 20, 11-12-13 inch. The last 3 Monday's
