Has anyone had much luck in fishing these trees/stump fields. Never had any luck, may be that I have not put in much time single poling in those areas

Bass fisherman fish them. I tried years ago with minnow/bobber. Got a few crappie and plenty of cats.

I have had much better luck on Jordan trolling or tight-lining.

I've never had any luck in the stumps. But I have had luck on the points around the stumps between Farrington and 64. But that was any the spring. Then again I don't fish Jordan that much anymore.

Several areas have large sections of trees left standing, but I have seen places with just 4-10 left up.
Thanks for the advice as I need all I can get.

    Thank you for the information

I've heard people talk about years ago at night when there wasn't a limit on crappie there were coolers full of fish caught in the timber and big crappie at that. I hardly ever hear of anyone fishing the timber now but a couple years ago I went one night and caught plenty of small crappie, nowhere near 10 inches, I think I only had 3 or 4 big enough to keep

I wonder if anyone else has had any luck in the timber or is it just because of fishing styles that nobody fishes it much. I grew up in Georgia fishing timber all the time. I no it’s usually single pole but it always produced for me.

Couple of things--Jordan crappie are primarily eating threadfin shad and they are open water fish, not in tree fields. That is why we long-line and many tight-line as well. We're out there trying to get those crappie feeding on the shad.

The second best day I have ever had on Jordan was fishing in the trees between Farrington and the 64 bridge. It was single-pole and was fishing with my Father. It was late Fall and we found a school of slab crappie. As you guys know, Fall is a transition time and I don't think it was the trees, but that we were fishing in the channel. As the crappie move down-lake for the Winter, they are going to follow the creek channel and we happened to find a very good school. My advice is to spend time fishing the trees and see if you can develop a pattern for catching crappie.

Thanks for the advice JordanLimit. I think I will be taking stuff to fish the trees for a while near 64 bridge and then if I can’t get anything going I will try and find the channel and the bait fish. Hopefully I can find bait fish in both places.
