What did you look for as decent areas to fish at? I'm new to lake fishing, and while I seem to be good at catching largemouth bass (caught a 4lb one my first time out, and a 5lb my second time ever), I am terrible at finding crappie (I wonder how I picked my username). I hear so many differing ideas. Open water or by structure. 25 ft of water and look for them in 15, or 12 to 15 ft of water and look for them at 10. Use lures, or use minnows, or use both.

every lake has its own personality, you gotta figure out how each lake fishes, try one thing and if it doesn't keep trying different things till you figure them out

I feel your pain. It takes time and study to to be able to catch crappie on a every trip bases. Look up SpecialK on this forum and pull-up his CRAPPIE 101. He used to fish Jordan and Harris. He doesn't fish much anymore but he knows what make crappie bite year round.

I looked up SpecialK and found the CRAPPIE 101 articles but it says I don't have permission to read them. A little help needed. I'm getting the same message when i tried to read the " Why do fish school" article and the " What happened to the fish on my favorite lake" articles. Are these articles too old and no longer on the site?????
