Has anyone crappie fished this lake? If so can you give a report or maybe some advice on it? The better half and I are planning on taking the camper up there and was just wondering what to expect. I have never been on the lake before. Thanks in advance and any help would sure be appreciated.

Fish the deep tree laps, swim the jigs around them, and good luck. Lake was real high during all the rain we had and may still not be settled down.

There was a guy on here back in the day, Jerkinlips was his screen name who had right good luck there. I miss seeing his reports but he definitely put fish in the boat.

I know some folks that occasionally do pretty well at night, using minnows. I fished there once about 2 months ago, targeting bass and crappie, and the water was a little "high" then, but still very clear. Had a little luck, but not much. Things got crazy back in early June, with all the rain, the water got extremely high. Looks like it is almost back to normal, but I bet the fish are still in shock. Good luck and report back. I'd like to spend more time there.

I have fished there some in the past, didn't catch much but I haven't put much time in there. Most people jig brush but I've trolled and picked up a few. Only fished at night twice, the first time we were catching fish but got rained on. Second time did ok. I'd like to get there more and get a read on the fish there.

Check out Nut Bush bridge and the channel in front of it. I fished the channel last July while we were up at JC cooper campground. I did real good during the day pushing minnows around. Went back the same night and also very well. Lots of bait in that area. You will see people all night catching bait and fishing off the bridge.

We were there this past weekend. The water looks fine. I did not fish.

    Good luck!!!

My fault, I thought you were asking about Kerr Lake on the VA boarder.

I use to fish it when we lived in Boone. Tough crappie lake. We could only catch using minnows consistently. I like to pull cranks and jigs and usually didn’t do too good there.

Thanks for all the replies and I will report back when we have a chance to get up there for a few days.
