Ever start is way better just buy at Walmart. Bought a 29dc for 100 bucks went on 3 trips. Total of 15 hours of running both trolling motor and fish finder and pump. Still have electricity left LMAO.

I have a set of 3 27d optima blue tops that are dated Aug. 2010. I have spent over 100 days a year on the water and they are still running strong. Lithium battery replacements are now almost the same price. I am thinking of trading 180lbs for 45lbs.

That's a nice weight savings! I'll be watching for any reports on Lithium batteries, specifically trolling motor batteries.

What you have to remember about lithium batteries is that they can be fully discharged without damage meaning you need half the capacity of lead acid. A quality lithium 36v battery and charger will run you at least $1700. The fact that you can replace two batteries with one still makes them very pricey.

Prices are dropping like crazy. You can get a 36v set up for right around 1k now. I just purchased a Lithium starting battery and have priced replacing the blue tops. The bluetops with tax or shipping are 325.00 each. I can get equivalent lithiums for 350.00 each.
Thanks wolfhnd, Hanr3 thanked you for this post
