Default NC crappies questions from Alaska

I posted this on the main board and someone was nice enought to tell me about a NC state board. So still looking for info/help. TIA

first let me say I tried to post a couple days ago and then I could not find the post so I am thinking it did not work. if you have seen another post from me with this subject please let me know where it is. I am a old fart and these forums are a challange for me. OK, looks like i will be in the Salisbury NC area this coming September. middle to late part I think but not sure yet. I have been in AK for 42 years and the one thing I miss is crappie, pan fish, fishing. I have looked into the area and crappie fishing seems to be good in the area. I am looking for help with better areas/lakes, fish camps, some with boat rentals etc. I did look at high rock lake and Tillery lake and Tillery boat rentals and guide service. was impressed with Tillery's have a free guided fishing trip on monday's for veterans. I reckon my first question is there much crappie fishing going on in Sept? if not then the rest does not matter. I am not moving to NC so i will not steal or give away any good spots etc, :-). I enjoy fishing from the bank also so have no problem with a cane pole, lawn chair and a refreashment. any info anyone is kind enough to give will be very appreciated. I have fished a bit for crappie growing up in FL and a lot in LA around Barksdale AFB, Bossier City area in the 70's. yea I am old. I know Sept is a long ways off but when you fly out from here you got to have your stuff together. TIA to anyone that gives me so ideas, help, suggestions, etc..

Greetings also from the Salisbury area.

you are moving into a prime area for crappie fishing. In Salisbury you have about 7 lakes (5 of which I consider excellent) for crappie fishing all within 1 hour drive.
Many of the lakes are very over developed around here are extremely over developed and there are is not much access for bank fishing EXCEPT High Rock and Tuckertown, so again its an excellent location.

High Rock and tuckertown are a numbers lake, but not a whole lot of big fish (that is quickly changing year by year).
All the others nearby are big fish factories for those who know how to target them!
plenty of tackle shops around all these lakes that will have everything additional you will need.

September is a great month, however i personally prefer the colder months from November through the spring (jet skiers and pleasure boaters are badddd).

Currently there are no limits on crappie on High Rock and tuckertown, so hopefully you can bring a pile of meat back with you to AK! Hope this helps a little
Full day 1/2 day or evening Striper/Crappie fishing trips available at a very affordable price for

Trapper--just a FYI--Gobbler just won the CrappieUSA Pro Division two-day crappie tournament on Lake Wylie (located on NC & SC) this past Fri. & Sat. If you can get on the water with him, you will be with one of the best.
