    Default First Post: Mapping Question?

I know this question has been asked before (probably numerous times), but would like to get current opinions/preferences regarding Lakemaster/Lakemaster Plus versus Navionics mapping chip(s)/cards). I realize that not all lakes are on Lakemaster. I am specifically interested in opinions regarding mapping for High Rock Lake which is on both cards. I would love to know which mapping is preferred and why to help me with making an educated decision about which mapping card I will purchase. Thanks in advance.

I have the navionics app on my phone. It has a free trial, and I paid for it after the trial was up. $13 I think.
Ive never fished high rock, but the navionics map of it looks good.
In my boat I have a simrad go9 with Cmap pro, which is similar to navionics, but not as detailed.
Cant speak to the lakmaster stuff.

    welcome to the board

I got a Helix 7 on Black Friday. It came with Navionics. It also has SonarCharts from Navionics and I honestly don’t see much difference. This is my first unit, so I look forward to hearing from someone who has experience with both Lakemaster and Navionics. I also got the Navionics App on the phone. Thought it was included, but found out I had to pay the $15 after the free trial as mentioned above. Navionics looks pretty good. I like that I can go to the info online and scout things out and do the same on my phone or Helix. No experience with Lakemaster, so I’m not selling by no means. Let us know your final answer.

I have a Navionics East card,a 2012 lakemaster, and a 2016 lakemaster.Lakemasters draws creek channels as a single blue line on (most)lakes, and is VERY close.I find that feature very helpful with crappie fishing.Navionics shows creek channels as broader areas.I have found that crappies will orient extremely close to the channels in most circumstances in shallower water,Stay on top of the channel catch fish, off of the channel not as many fish.

I use the free maps you can download for Lowrance units, they are better than the maps you can buy. If you use Lowrance I highly recommend checking them out.

I am a much bigger fan of Lakemaster. Because of Badin not being a Lakemaster lake, I have Navionics to use when fishing it. Johnson Outdoors owns both Humminbird and Minn Kota. Since Lakemaster is Humminbird, they all work together just fine.

One other reason is the map below. I'm pretty sure this was taken on High Rock. Lakemaster will give you the creek channel and you can see it in purple on the map. There are times of the year that this channel is very important. The Navionics chip we have does not give the channel and I very much need it.
