Definitely need creel limits on these lakes.

Just get him on, then we'll worry about getting him in!

Just a honest question here..would it be possible that local bait shops and other businesses would lose money if those who live a few hours or further away decide that it's not worth it if the creel and\or size changed? more specifically by raising the size limit? I know many of the locals on the kerr lake message board would love to see a size increase (creel limits are no brainers) on Kerr which would most likely cause far fewer trips by law abiding out-of-towners which would negatively impact businesses\bait shops in that area also. I can understand some of the thinking tho..that the pressure would fall off their waters and the size of the fish would have a great result...just not sure where the happy medium is here....the "illegal" bank people are in my experiences the most damaging both up there and in my home salt waters here in Wilmington.

I've been exchanging voicemails with the Wildlife game biologist for Jordan Lake. She is actually out on the lake doing their winter sampling this week. If they are contemplating lowering the size limit, they should have concrete data proving why they should lower the size. It's this data I would like to see and share it on this forum. This data is public information and can be shared with the public.

I agree needs to staybat 10 inches. We drive over 1.5 hours just to fish this lake because it is a great lake and always produces nice fish.

State Wide needs 10 inch size limit except the "exception" lakes.

Thinking of raising the min size to 12"is a little ridiculous.
The most reasonable thing to do would be to urge for a slot rule.
    5 over 10" and 10 under 10".
Anyone who has ever managed a pond or small lake knows that removing the smaller fish increases size and quality of your trophy stock.
There are many more people going to fish for something to eat and a nice day away from chores rather than just looking for the monster.
A slot is the easiest way to control the size of the fish.
I really dislike driving 1.5 hrs and spending 100.00 on gas and bait to go and catch 200 fish at 9.75".
Fun yes but 6 mouths will still be hungry.

In my opinion it might not hurt the over all population but will hurt the big fish population. If you want a trophy lake you must let the fish grow to trophy size. I don't know if our growing season is long enough to have many 3lb crappie but I sure would go along with anything that help the lake head in that direction. If the shad population will support the growing number of fish I say raise the limit 12 like these other trophy lakes. and let them grow. You know nature has its own ways of taking care of itself.

I disagree. I fish Randleman when it is open and they have no limit at all. People take coolers of crappie out of that lake all the time. I have fished this lake for many years now and they have not gotten anywhere near Jordan quality of fish, but the drive home is nice. It's not the bank people that support the revenue it's the true sportsman and tournament anglers that support all of these things you speak of.If I have a choice about spending my time and money I'm going to go where I know I hav a chance of a 12ld limit of tournament fish not 8in friers. Just my opinion
