Thread: Crappie/buckhorn resovoir

Trying to get my 12 yr old into fishing. Was thinking about trying crappie fishing this weekend. I’ve never crappie fished. Any pointers for us? Minnows , cork, ?

This time of the year I would try minnows deep around some type of brush or structure. You can find them suspended in deeper water now as well. I would use like 1/2 oz egg sinker above a swivel and about 2 foot of leader to your minnow instead of a cork. If you want to use a cork for the young one, make sure it is a slip cork so you can get deep if needed.
