Lake Lucas Topographic Map
I'm trying to locate a map of Lake Lucas in Randolph County. This lake was formed in the late 1940's and finding a topographic map of this lake is almost impossible. Even in the park office all they have is a rough color pencil drawing.
Does anyone have any idea where I could try to find an old map showing this information? I've heard rumors there is an old map from some local old timers but haven't seen it. I have been trying to locate the old creek channel and drop offs. I'm having a hard go at it with my setup. This lake holds the North Carolina Black Crappie Record (4 lbs 15 oz) as well as being special to me. It's the first lake my dad and I fished and I have lots of good memories from there.
Or is there anyone with a fish finder with mapping capabilities that could then get a file out either by print or format others could use and would be willing to map this lake for me? It's a 238 acres lake and has a 15 hp motor limit. You can launch your boat but not use the main motor.

your incorrect about lucas holding the record crappie, it came out of city lake #4 i believe, there were/are several asheboro city lakes back then that folks fished, but lucas is the only one that the public is still allowed to access, yes folks there are lakes amongest us that are teaming with unpressured fish that you cant legally access, a real shame

You could spend some time and map it depending on which unit you have.

I called Lake Lucas and confirmed it is city lake #4 and the black crappie record did come from there. Talked with park manager Sam Price.Originally Posted by gobbler

I don't have the capability of doing this with my fish finder. I have a Lucky brand fish finder. Very simple, very easy, WYSIWYG unit. No bells or whistles.You could spend some time and map it depending on which unit you have.

Check at Delks army navy on 64. In the back they have a cabinet that has a ton of old maps in it. I do remember seeing a lot of local maps but not sure the style of maps.
