    Default Harris on 10/21/18

I braved the wind and went out on Harris yesterday mostly looking for water temp and bait fish.

water temp in the afternoon was 70 to 72. The water was pretty clear. I saw some bait fish balls and caught 2 bream and one cat fish that snagged itself on my llne.

Would love to hit the weekends looking for crappie on Harris or Jordan as the water cools. If there are any amateur guides, we could use my boat and I'll cover everything for the education or the same in your boat. I haven't mastered southern crappie in my 5 years fishing here.

Last thing, is there a place on hwy 42 to get minnows? I only had crawlers and jigs yesterday and couldn't remember where to get bait. Is there anywhere in Sanford with minnows? That is on my way there.

    Thanks for any help.

Tri River bait and tackle is on 42 but never got minnows there. I come up through Sanford and get mine at the Jordan Dam store then continue up 501 to the Old US 1 exit which takes you to the boat ramp.

when I fish at Harris I too go in on 42 from Sanford. Tri-river (used to be Marks} opens at 6am and most always has minnows and non-ethanol gas.

I think it is closed/out of business if you are referring to bait shop on Hwy 55 between Fuquay and Holly Springs. Was sad to see it close. People that owned/worked there were great and friendly to me and my family when we came in. Trying to find a bait shop close to Holly Springs now but haven’t found anything close yet.

I think Ant B may have been referring to Buckhorn General Store off Hwy 42 towards Harris. They do have minnows at times. I'd call ahead the day before to be sure. And that's traveling from Fuquay.
