I know the storm is still a bad storm but I've got to ask, especially for any or all of you who evacuated....

If you had known the storm was going to be a Cat 1 at best, at landfall, would you still have evacuated?

I rode out a 70 mph TS in a hotel on the beach once. It wasn't bad at all. It was a storm very similar to this one. I almost couldn't get home due to the flooding. That part was scary.

You guys that did evacuate, please be careful going home. Driving in flooding rains is dangerous stuff.

Prayers as well as condolences to all of the family and friends of those (I've heard 15 and I've heard 17) who lost their lives in Hurricane Florence. Apparently, although the storm has finally made its way out of NC and SC... there is still much danger in that the reservoirs and rivers have all well exceeded capacity and are bringing even more flooding to those at and around the coast and coastal plain. I won't even comment on how the storm inconvenienced me and my family... because seeing how much others have lost... and how much they have suffered and will continue to suffer... have turned my minor inconveniences into true blessing and thanksgiving. This thing could have been MUCH, MUCH, MUCH WORSE. Thank God for sparing NC and SC what could have been total catastrophe had this thing stayed a cat 4 or 5. Stay cautious and safe all!!!

Sadly, that's what I have heard since making the above post. Hopefully it won't climb any higher.

Last count I heard was 37 dead. We are pretty much trapped in our town at the moment (we're not in danger of flooding but the roads are closed). The first responders that are here have done a remarkable job. Last I heard there were over 2000 water rescues. Those boys in the Cajun Navy are something else, they rescued 200 people Monday night alone out of the NE Cape Fear River.

The wind from this storm was worse than Fran, and the rain topped Floyd. The cleanup will be long and arduous, but folks down here have done it many times before. I got my power back yesterday just a little after 12 noon. Thanks to the guys that were checking in on us, means a lot.

Hang in there jack. Prayers sent.

I read this morning flooding still to come to S.C. and areas as all the water crest.

I have been watching the coverage every day since the storm and since as the rivers have continued to flood the already flooded areas... and like everyone else I'm sure... it makes me feel like there is a huge hole right through the middle of me. It makes me feel good, however, to see so many people of all races, creeds and religions pulling together and helping one another through such a devastating time. It reminds me of the movie "Starman" when Jeff Bridges said it right when he said, "...Mankind is at their very best when things are at their absolute worst." This is the spirit that makes America and taking care of your neighbor such a huge part of who we are. Prayers are indeed continuing for all who were in harms way.
