Just checked the Army Corps website and yes, Jordan is up 3 feet and with all the rain in Alamance and Guilford Counties, it is sure to rise more. Some of the crappie will go up into the trees looking for food, but right now they are primarily feeding on shad, which means they are swimming around out in the coves. Because of the flooding down the Cape Fear River, they will keep the gates on the dam closed to a minimum flow until things return to normal downstream. Most likely we will be fishing with water higher than normal, so probably will be long-lining out in the coves.

That's what im thinking too,I know this lake can grow to about 24,000 acres,or up 10+ ft.I am just hopoing it's going to be back to reasonable by the 25th. or so.the lake IS all about flood control, and Wilmington needs all the help it can get

I practice fished as a guide with a couple of guys for a bass tournament on Jordan 30+ years ago and the water was so high, we launched boats from the parking lot of the Farrington boat ramps, because all the rest were closed or completely under water. At that time, the office at the marina was a mobile building that had to be moved because it would have been partially submerged. We caught 3 short fish and were the only ones who boated fish, so the tournament got switched to Harris. Can't remember exactly what the high water level was, maybe 22 feet above normal pool of 216.2. I remember it was just before running around the side of the dam & it was just about muddy enough to plow.

Just checked the Army Corps website and Jordan is at 223 (normal is 216) and still rising. The Haw River has not crested yet, so the lake will continue to rise. With a week and a half till we fish, hopefully it will have a chance to drop some.

I was wondering the same thing. Freddie drove down to Jordan today and ramps closed. He then went to Harris and no problems. They could still meet at the church near Farrington for dinner.
