Are those rods light enough to spider rig with? I will have a set of dedicated spider rigging rods before January 1. I want something with a little backbone but a fast, sensitive tip.

Very much so, I have fished many rods, not sponsored by anyone and I choose to fish with the Denalis. They really shine in rough water and we lift 15 inch fish in without thinking about a net.
Please do not get me wrong about the Southerns, awesome rods but spider rigging in the waves they fail, just that simple. Cost me a tourney year before last and I changed. Southerns are the toughest on the market.

I have both and fish both the southern's and Denalli's. Both great rods. When Rees first got his Denalli's he invited me to go fishing with him. I had made up my mind was not going to pay what they wanted for those poles and was happy with my southern's. Well we set out on Enid, he only had 4 Denalli's at the time so we split them 2 each Denalli's and 2 each another brand that were pretty good rods. Needles to say at the end of that day I ordered a set of 14 Denalli's. Still happy with them. They are light and plenty of backbone. I like my southern's for certain situations for the way I fish at times but in rough water the Denalli does out shine the southern. Not trying to sell you on anything but my opinion only. Also that's a good price compared to new.

i have won a few dollars tightlining with southern crappie rods in wind and waves, in my opinion the rods have that “ give” that is needed when the boats is bouncing that helps keep your bait stiller, but thats why there are blondes and bruenettes and even redheads, and yes i've tried them all too, i think it has alot to do with what your used too, in high wind and waves id run heavy wieghts to steady the bait even more and reduce bounce, but in fairness ive never fished a Denali, never had a reason too
