    Default Mounting new rod holders

Looking for some suggestions, I just bought a set of 2 of the Millennium rod holders, I want to put 2 bases at the back and 2 at the front of my xpress jon boat. At the front there is no issue, I can reach through the anchor locker and put washers and locknuts on bolts, On the back where I want to mount them has no under access. It is just a flat deck, with some foam underneath I believe. There is a small hole, not big enough to put 4 nuts on the back of all the bolts. I have the screws they sent, but I plan on using them for catfishing off the back, so they need to be fairly sturdy.
Has anyone mounted them with the screws? Or would you cut a small access hole and just bolt them and look for something to plug the holes?

The rod holders are built very well, I like them so far

Yeah I thought about those, but I don't want to cut a hole much bigger than I have to, I will be trying to at least put 5200 around it to keep water out, since there is foam underneath.

I had a similar problem with my boat. What I used is called a " riv nut " I found the tool and nuts at Harbor Freight.

I used self tapping screws and predrilled undersized
So far so good. But I checked them from time to time

Figured worse case I would use the provided screws, and hit them with 5200 when they are almost completely in. If they ever move, I can always find toggle nuts to put in the larger holes. The plates on the front will be washered and have locknuts on them, probably hit them with 5200 as well.
