    Default Trent River 10/28

Caught a limit on the Trent this past Saturday. Water temps ranged from 63 to 65 when I left. All fish caught in 6' or less. Tightlined jigs and minnows. There was a ton of bottom structure where these fish were at (primarily Cypress logs and stumps).

Never fished there, looks like a great day on the water.

Really like the color of these fish. Did they come out of brackish water? What ramp do you usually use and is it reasonably safe to leave truck and trailer there???

All of the ramps around New Bern seem OK. Cool Springs is down in the woods and that's one I'd be suspect about, but most of the others are pretty safe. There's 120' yachts in the main parts of the Neuse and Trent, so I think most places are safe. One thing though, if the wind blows out of the west, it will empty that place like a bath tub that's had the stopper pulled.

Still safe to navigate for most boats, as long as you stay in the channel markers. Water is brackish, tide does effect it, but those rivers don't flow like the Cape Fear and NE Cape Fear do ,closer to Wilmington.

With the wind this weekend I might decide to give the crappie a shot, since I can't go in the ocean. Have you tried the spot you showed me yet this year?
