    Default Electric anchor winch

Anyone use electric anchor winches (like Minn Kota Deckhand)? What brands? Are you satisfied with the performance?

I know two guy's an they both use minn kota with swtches at the drives sit there's are 18 pounds on 16 to 17ft ranger's, but they wish they had the 25 pounds unit's. I can text you pic's of how they are mounted. We need some anchor's on that fast boat to slow you down. I hadn't smelled that jet fuel from that boat in a while.......

Do those rigs allow you to add chain. Anchors work a lot better with several feet of heavy chain iin front of them.

I don't even know if they work at all. That's why I started the thread. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on something that is better used for an anchor than picking one up.

I know what your saying, but the ones I seen pulled the anchor up tight so it wouldn't hit the side of boat, if you add the chain it would swing around and hit the side of the boat. We use chain on our river anchors, but we pull them up and put them in the boat while moving.

I bought 2 used minn kota deckhand 35's off E bay for $60.00 each they both work great I couldn't stand the price of a new set I just lucked up got them both off the same person. I don't think you would want to put a chain on them think it would damage the anchor receiver if you did. Only thing I didn't like was they came with a lot of heavy wiring I did away with it on mine and mounted the switches at the anchor motors.

i put on the minn kota deckhand 40 with 30 lb anchor. probably overkill for my 19 ft but we really love it. added the remote switch beside the driver's seat and it really makes things alot easier for this old timer. one of the best additions so far.

I have seen a lot on where to mount them on the boat, etc. but I have yet to figure out how to run the power wires. They come with wires about 4 ft long and my batteries are in the back of the boat. Do I have to run them all the way back there or is there a better way? My trolling motor is up front and the boar came with a plug in for that already in the deck.

I am not very handy but I think even i can do it with some guidance.

I have a basstracker classic. Any help is greatly appreciated!

This is an old tread, but since the last time I posted on this tread, I have added the deck hand 40 to my tracker, In 2015, and it has worked good for me, I put it on the back corner near the cracking battery,Done wore out the first rope, just put the new rope on a month ago. easy to work on.I really like mine.
