    Default Lake James 3/24

Hit James late Saturday evening, got set up and then the wind started, couldn't hold over the spot I wanted so I had to move to another spot out of the wind. The water temp. was 65 to 67 and really dingy on the upper end. We caught 25 or so crappie and had 8 keepers in the 10 to 12 in. range. Most caught on minnows with a couple on trout magnets. Fished until 11:00 then went in. Not many folks fishing at all, I guess they knew the wind was going to blow and had better sense. I haven't had much time to go with work and softball practice with my girls so I guess a night with wind is better than not going at all. Good luck.

I know what you mean about having to go when you can. I haven't been able to go for nearly two weeks because of work schedule and other things...
but I am hoping the weather / wind will cooperate for Wednesday of this week. Glad to hear you did manage to find a few... even in the wind.
There will be another day when conditions are better... Lord willing. Thanks for sharing your day with us.

Thanks for the report. I plan on fishing James next week for the first time ever. Gonna be staying at the cabin the the mountains for a week. If you don't mind sharing did you fish Catawba arm or Lenville arm of James?

I was fishing just below the moose lodge on the catawba end. I wouldn't have normally fished there, but it was the only place I could find out of the wind. It was almost muddy up there, closer to black bear the water was a lot clearer, just a little color to it which is what I like. I have a lot of brush piles around black bear area and will share some with you if you have a fish finder with gps. I know how it is to go to a new lake and don't have any idea where to start. Good luck and let me know if I can help.

Thanks a lot logs. I don't have a gps however. I was thinking about fishing around the Black bear area when I go.
